The Pros and Cons of Obagi NuDerm Skin Care Products

Do you want to know the pros and cons of Obagi Nu Derm Products? Are you on the fence trying to decide if you should use these skin care products? Have you seen the dramatic results achieved by your friends and acquaintances but you’re unable to decide if you should take the plunge? Well, then this article is for you.

I will discuss the major advantage and disadvantage of using Obagi products.

The major advantage is that it works. Period. These Obaji Nuderm products are effective. Scores of women ranging in age from 30 to 65 years swear by this skin care regimen. They say that it has made them look 5 – 10 yrs. younger, that it has done away with their sun & age spots.

And they’re not wrong. Obagi has done its magic on lots of women; But these women have worked hard for it. What you don’t know is that the process of using Obagi involves a peeling phase, commonly referred to as the ‘Uglies phase’.

An Obagi cycle takes 6 weeks and it is typically done 3 times, for a total of 18 weeks. In the first 2 – 6 weeks, your old, problem skin will peel and fall off. This peeling off is an essential part of the Obagi process; it needs to fall off so that the younger looking, smoother skin can be revealed. At that time, your skin might also become increasingly red.

If you can endure the ‘Uglies phase’ and you have some severe skin issues to tackle, then by all means, use the Obagi NuDerm products. That is the major disadvantage about Obaji. It is also not so cheap, but then basically all high-quality skin care products don’t come cheap.

So if you can’t make up your mind if you should use Obagi or not, here is the advantage & disadvantage in a nutshell: The first 2 – 6 weeks of using Obagi NuDerm products involve some redness and peeling skin. If younger looking, smoother skin (which equals a more beautiful you) outweighs the passing discomfort, then you have nothing to lose (and everything to gain) by using Obagi Nu Derm skin care products.

What Does Botanical Skincare Really Mean?

Have you noticed how many botanical skincare products there are on the market today? The number is staggering, actually. Everything from hand soap to shampoo seems to have some link to various plants that are grown on the good earth.

Have you ever asked yourself why these ingredients are so popular? What is it about these ingredients that make marketing companies fall over themselves as they try to outsell each other by touting the “natural” ingredients of their products?

Botanical refers to plants. When you see this word on a skincare product, you automatically assume that the ingredients contained in that product come from plants. Consumers should be cautious and read all labels before purchasing any of these products since many of them actually contain only a very small percentage of these natural plant ingredients.

Some companies will use German chamomile in their formulas since it is beneficial for aging skin. Unfortunately, many companies will add a small percentage of that ingredient and because of this, the formula will not have any significant cosmetic value. Still yet, other companies will load up their formulas with synthetic colors, chemicals, and fragrances. Products which contain synthetic preservatives and fragrances that contain small percentages of botanical ingredients will not only cause negative skin reactions in some people, but also have little or no therapeutic cosmetic value. In addition, a good percentage of their products will contain water while the herbal ingredients will only comprise about 1 to 3% of the total formula.

Another reason skin care manufacturers will use the word botanical on their product label is because it implies that the product is safer to use than chemically-based formulas. Since these formulas are made from natural plant ingredients, most consumers believe that they are not only beneficial for their skin, but will also not cause any allergic reactions. In addition, it will give the manufacturer a reason to charge more for the particular skin care product.

There are, of course, pure skin care products that truly are composed of plant and other natural ingredients. Unfortunately, only a few select companies manufacture these type of products.

As a consumer, we need to engage in a good amount of research in order to find these beneficial products. When shopping for an effective natural product, choose those that contain essential oils and coconut oil rather than water since the former can better help moisturize the skin. You will be able to locate those products online or find them at a quality health food store.

Most conventional skin care products found on the market today have to be able to withstand a long shelf life. In some cases, the products must be able to remain fresh for up to a year or longer. In order to accomplish this task, certain preservatives must be used. Methyl and Propyl Paraben are two of the most popular preservatives used in cosmetics today, and they have been found to cause skin rashes and allergic reactions in some people.

Most people understand that since organic and chemical-free plant based skin care products will spoil over time, it is necessary to add preservatives to them in order to help prevent rancidity and stop the growth of bacteria. These products use natural preservatives derived from grapefruit seed extract, potassium sorbate and Vitamin E.

For the most part, these natural formulas have a shelf life of at least a year. They are mainly sold in smaller batches to stores that cater to people who want natural and chemical-free skin care products. These specialty shops maintain smaller inventories than the large chain stores and because of this, they are able to bring in the freshest products available.

Some beneficial plant ingredients used in natural skin care formulas are aloe vera, rosa mosqueta, sea buckthorn, allantoin, calendula and green tea extract. When using any quality plant based skin care formula to treat your skin condition, it is important to know which plant extracts are best suited for your particular case. For instance, aloe vera would be a good choice for treating sunburn, but it may not be useful in treating acne.

Secondly, it is important to test a plant based skin care formula on a small patch of skin in order to determine if it will cause a rash or allergic reaction. Lavender is an essential oil derived from the lavender plant and has been used to treat acne. However, some people are allergic to lavender and therefore should avoid any skin formulas which contain that medicinal plant.

Lemon balm is an herbal plant that is beneficial for those who have oily skin. You will find this plant added to toners since it has astringent properties (it tightens pores).

Red clover is a popular herb that has been shown to bolster the immune system and has been prescribed by naturopathic physicians to treat cancer. This herb has also been used in skin formulas to treat dry skin.

Botanical skin care products can be used to treat a variety of different skin conditions and be utilized by those who want to maintain their healthy skin complexion. These products have been shown to be nontoxic and contain vitamins, minerals, and enzymes which help nourish the skin. They are multipurpose since the herbal plants they contain are beneficial for all skin types.

Some herbal plants such as rosa mosqueta and sea buckthorn contain volatile oils which are especially beneficial in treating wrinkles and aging skin. Even though these products are beneficial for the skin, it is best to consult with your dermatologist before you begin a plant-based regime to make sure that you will not encounter any adverse effects or allergic reactions.

A daily healthy lifestyle with the addition of a nutritious diet and exercise, not smoking, moderate alcohol consumption and the regular application of plant-based skin care products can help improve and rejuvenate your complexion.

Body Lotion and Creams For Effective Skin Care

When people think about taking care of their skin, it’s usually the face they’re thinking about. But, taking care of the skin is something that is necessary all over the body. Body creams can help to nourish the skin everywhere in order to keep an even tone of soft, smooth skin. The best body lotion and creams are ones that accomplish the same goals that face creams do.

Effective body creams will penetrate past the upper, superficial layer of skin to repair the layers underneath. To do this, it should contain natural oils. This gives skin more thorough hydration and results in fewer wrinkles. The skin is left softer and more even in tone. And because dry skin can make skin look older, the result is also younger looking skin.

The face is one way that a person’s age is conveyed, but it certainly isn’t the only one. The skin on the rest of the body ages as well. The signs can be seen in the hands, upper arms, knees and anywhere else that the skin begins to loosen and become wrinkled. This happens as the skin ages and stops making as much elastin and collagen as it once did.

The key to reversing these effects is use body lotion and creams that will stimulate the skin to start producing more of these substances. This can be done with body creams that contain ingredients like CynergyTK that do just that. There are very few products that contain this ingredient, but those that do are well worth the search.

When body lotion and creams are used on the skin, the effect that many people are looking for is to prevent wrinkles. This is a different function from fixing wrinkles that have already been formed. Preventing new ones means neutralizing the chemicals in the skin that are causing them. Antioxidants are the most effective substances for doing this.

To get the best performance from an antioxidant, it has to be able to penetrate the skin as effectively as high-quality moisturizing ingredients. It too has to affect the deeper layers of skin in order to work most effectively. The best antioxidant to do this is a called Nano-Lipobelle H E Q10. It destroys the free radicals that are causing the wrinkles.

Body lotion and creams with this antioxidant should be used anywhere on the body that comes into contact with sunlight. Because sunlight increases the amount of free radicals in the skin, it’s important to combat them in the hands, neck, arms and legs. All of these areas can easily wrinkle without the use of the right body creams.

To keep skin looking its best all over, there are more products needed than simply a face cream. Body lotions and creams are necessary to keep the skin on the rest of the body from aging too quickly. Body creams that contain the right mixture of ingredients can keep skin moisturized as well as making it look younger. Look for lotions that have these ingredients for the most effective results all over the body.

6 Ways to Reduce Skin Sensitivity

Are you frustrated with constant skin dryness?  Do you have trouble finding skin care products that don’t irritate your skin?  Well you are not alone.  Thirty percent of people around the world suffer from allergic reactions to skin care products and sensitive skin.  According to research that number is on the rise.

Skin sensitivity is characterized by dryness, itchiness, redness, and susceptibility to allergic reactions.  Sensitive skin care is becoming more difficult as the majority of products on the market today contain harsh chemicals.  In addition, environmental factors, household products, food, and other aspects of our daily lives can greatly affect the condition of our skin.

Many products you see at the drugstore purport to be sensitive skin care products when they are really full of chemical irritants.  To avoid damaging your skin, it is best to avoid mainstream products and rid your lives of the common causes of skin irritation.  Here are 5 ways to help reduce skin sensitivity and achieve clear, beautiful skin:

   1. For truly effective sensitive skin care, you have to approach the problem from the inside out.  This means you have to be careful about what you put into your body as well as what you put on your body’s surface.  Avoid spicy foods and peppers, which are known to cause flushing and redness.  Also avoid caffeine and alcohol, which can cause dryness and irritation of the skin.  Drink lots of water and eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables.

   2. Mother Nature provides the best ingredients for sensitive skin care products, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t do some damage of her own.  To prevent redness and rash, avoid sun and wind exposure as well as exposure to extreme cold and heat.  If you use a heater during the winter months, also use a humidifier to avoid drying your skin out.

   3. One of the fundamentals of sensitive skin care is to take shorter baths and showers and not use hot water.  Lukewarm water may be hard to get used to at first but unlike hot water, it will not dry and irritate your skin.  After bathing, pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing it.  Moisturize your skin immediately after you dry yourself in order to trap moisture.

   4. Prior to taking any medications, talk to your doctor about side effects.  Some medications cause phototoxicity, which leads to extra-sensitive skin and risk of severe sunburn.  Others cause photoallergy, which can bring about a dangerous systemic allergic reaction that affects more than just the skin.  If it is absolutely necessary to take a medication with these side effects, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, use sunblock, and wear a wide-brimmed hat and UV-protective clothing.  When choosing sunblock, opt for an all-natural, sensitive skin care product and avoid mainstream brands that contain harsh irritants.

   5. Many products you use in your daily life whether they are for cleaning, hygiene, or gardening, are common culprits of skin irritation.   Some products to watch out for include laundry detergent, pesticide, soap, glue, varnish, talc, latex, and scented toilet paper, among many other things.  Avoid products with artificial fragrances and try to find natural alternatives.

   6. Stay away from skin care products that contain parabens (methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl), derivatives of mineral oil (petrolatum, paraffin wax, liquid paraffin), artificial fragrances, and propylene glycol, to name a few.  All of these ingredients can cause toxic and allergic reactions.  This list just hits the tip of the iceberg.  An important rule to remember in sensitive skin care is to read labels before purchasing any product!  You will find that many of these harmful chemicals sneak their way into skin care products.

In order to tackle sensitive skin, you have to approach it from many directions.  A lifestyle change is often in order.  Sensitive skin care needs to be holistic in order to be effective.  Nowadays it is difficult to avoid the environmental toxins that can adversely affect your skin but by following the steps outlined above, you will reduce skin sensitivity and be much closer to achieving healthy, glowing skin.  Now is the time to start putting these tips to use!

Top 9 Most Wanted Harmful Facial Skin Care Assassins

Don’t let your beauty be assassinated by silent deadly skin care products! There is so much controversy about facial skin care products containing harmful chemicals that will damage our skin and even internal organs.

Are you aware of the ingredients being used by famous brands and companies to produce products like cleansers, toners, moisturizers, serums and sunblocks, etc? We use facial products because we want to care and protect our face. However, without any knowledge of harmful ingredients, we are actually risking our healthy skin.

Most of us could have read about painfully long lists of harmful chemicals and reminded ourselves to watch out for it. But many a times, we do not remember them, do we? As such, I have compiled a list of dangerous chemicals which are commonly found in many facial skin care products.

Without the hassle to memorise a lengthy list with long and complicated chemical names, you can just simply watch out if the chemicals are used to produce your skin care products.

1. Alcohols (propyl, isopropyl, alcohol denat./SD-alcohol)

They dehydrate your skin in the long term and cause blemishes.

2. Parabens (methy, butyl, ethyl, propyl)

They are toxic and will result in skin allergies.

3. Fragrance

It irritates the skin and causes headaches and lung problems.

4. Mineral Oil

It causes skin irritations by clogging up the pores. Prolonged use may lead to cancer.

5. Glycerin

It draws moisture from the lower layers of the skin, causing the lower layers to become dry. This happens easily if the humidity of the air is under 65%.

6. Propylene Glycol

It causes irritations to the eyes and skin. Prolonged use may lead to liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

7. Triethanolamine (TEA)

It causes allergies, irritates the eyes and dries out the skin.

8. Silicone emollients (dimethicone, cyclomethicone)

They clog the pores and prevent the skin to breathe.

9. Synthetic colourings (FD&C Red No. 6, CI 14700/RED 4)

They are carcinogens which affect nerve transmission in the brain, causing genetic damage. So dig out your skin care products, check the ingredients, and decide whether to use them or not.

The Importance Of Cosmetics And Make Up

Make up has been around foe several centuries already. Among the more notable people to wear these beauty enhancers are the Egyptians. In fact the first known historical record of using cosmetics to enhance beauty or parts of the face and body was in Egypt during the First Dynasty around the years 3100 – 2907 BC. Make up back then was just the simple eye coloring that is reminiscent of most Egyptians paintings where the eyes are colored with kohl and other elements and substances. During that time, Egyptians were also very much aware of the effects of the harsh sun on their skin and they already have a sort of lotion to keep their skin moisturized and supple.

Make up eventually evolved from the Egyptian kohl to the French rouge, which was used to make the lips red and the cheeks blush. Today, make up plays a vital role for both men and women everywhere. There are many products that are produced to be organic or hypoallergenic in order to meet the demands of the many cosmetics users.

Uses Of Make Up

Most people use make up to enhance and beautify. This is usually the most common use of make up there is and the most prevalent. Other uses of make up include covering up scars and deformities that can be debilitating. Although it is of the same purpose as a beauty aid, this use helps build up the self esteem and confidence of an individual.

Make up is also need in certain jobs and professions mostly centered in the show business industry. Being under harsh lights and the constant glare of camera flashes has prompted many show business personalities to arm themselves with make up instead of appearing in unfavorable conditions and disappointing their fans. Since their appearance is one of their most valuable assets, they must make every endeavor to appear as the fans want them to appear.

Other use of make up that has just recently surfaced is as sun protection. Many manufacturers of beauty products and cosmetics have accommodated the need of most people to protect themselves and their skin from the rays of the sun. This is a great development because before, sun protection and make up were quite difficult to blend together.

Today cosmetics play a great role in everyday life and the industry generates several billion dollars in products and income. It has become an everyday tool to make men and women more presentable.

Rhinoplasty Makeup Tips For Women For After Surgery

Rhinoplasty is one of the safest and generally most satisfying plastic surgeries in the market today. The results can be dramatic and long-lasting. Yet, in order to get to those perfected results, you have to wait through several weeks or a few months before all the swelling subsides. It can be even a year until the final product is revealed. What is a girl required to do in the mean time? Fortunately there is a whole slough of camouflaging cosmetics in the market that can help conceal any bruising and discolorations until your nose completely heals.

The most common side effects of rhinoplasty are swelling, bruising, discoloration, and the presence of incision scars. These are natural results of the surgery and are the body’s way of telling you that something traumatic just happened and that your body is trying to fix it. Still, you do not want everyone else paying more attention to your healing nose than they do to you. To minimize awkward stares you will need some good cosmetics.

First, you can start with some concealer to cover up bruises and incision lines. Concealers are nice and thick, much thicker than foundation, and can basically erase some of the rhinoplasty-related blemishes. Make sure to find one that very closely matches your skin color and that is hypoallergenic to avoid further irritating your skin. Also choose a concealer that is waterproof to give you the look that lasts all day. After applying the concealer to your bruises and scars, it is usually best to apply a layer of your regular foundation for a more finished presentation.

If you have any discoloration of the skin around the surgery area, your best bet may be color correctors. These are specifically designed to hide the unsightly colors that accompany bruising. If you have a yellowish bruise, try a lavender corrector. For redder discolorations, apply green corrector. Be sure to finish with a layer of your own foundation to smooth out the colors.

There are also ways to disguise the swelling that will typically last for few weeks. One common technique is to use different shades of foundation to create contouring or lights and shadows. If you want to make your swollen nose look narrower, apply a strip of foundation two shades lighter than your regular one down the center of your nose. Then apply strips of foundation that are two shades darker than your regular one along the sides of your nose. Blend them together as best as you can. This should produce an illusion of a thinner nose line, camouflaging any temporary fatness or inflammation.

Before you try any of these techniques, be sure to get your surgeons approval. Usually you will be allowed to start wearing makeup just a few days after your procedure, but you may have to wait until your stitches have been removed to start covering up the incision lines. When you do start using makeup again, make sure your applicators are clean and that your products are non-oily and hypoallergenic. Be consistent and diligent in completely removing the makeup with toner and cleaning your face each night. The last thing you want is to inadvertently create an infection in the nose, prolonging the swelling, bruising, and overall recovery period.

With proper know-how and application, makeup can be a very effective tool in helping you look your best, right after your rhinoplasty procedure. Camouflaging cosmetics can allow you to feel comfortable going back to work and moving in your normal social circles again.

6 Tips to Win the Heart of Beautiful Filipina Women

Beautiful Filipina women may just be the best partner to spend the rest of your life with. Sweet Filipinas have a unique beauty – both Asian and Latin, they are very hospitable and they are totally devoted to their husband, as part of the Filipino culture that they grew up in. They are very supportive and loving, not only to their spouses but also to their entire family.

What’s so special about dating charming Philippine Women

A great thing about beautiful Filipina women is that although they have a deep sense of being Filipino in them, as shown by their amicable and pleasant charm, they are also well aware of the Western culture, more so, of the American culture. Pretty Filipinas speak perfect English which is great because you don’t need to learn the language to meet beautiful Filipinas.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to win the heart of a beautiful Pinay (Filipina woman) that you have set your heart on.

If you are still dating online and looking for relationship with Filipina beauties:

  • Make sure you consider that the girl lives in a different time zone so do not set chat times at 11 am Eastern Standard Time as that will be 11 pm in the Philippine Islands. Show your lady this early on that you are a very considerate man.
  • Learn some simple Filipino phrases and surprise her. Try the following:
    • Ang ganda mo – You are beautiful
    • Mahal kita – I love you
    • Iniisip kita lagi – I always think of you
  • When you are talking about your lives, be truthful. Filipina brides can sense if you are lying so if you have nothing good to say about a topic you are discussing, then better change the subject.
  • Short messaging is a big deal in the Philippines as there are a lot of people that actually use the text message function of their phone more than the call. So send her a sweet SMS once or twice a day just to let her know you are thinking of her.

If you have gone to the Philippines:

  • Acknowledge that in dating Filipina women, courtship will play a huge part. You really have to woo a Philippine bride and this does not necessarily mean that you have to shower her with gifts. A token of love or two will do and they do not have to be expensive. You do not need to bring gifts to her family members but note that, the parents will take this as a sign of respect so it is best that you have something in tow. Again, it does not have to be expensive. Aside from that, you would also have to make her friends like you which is basically something that you have to do in all ladies, unless you want to have a hard time making her like you.
  • Be wary of cultural nuances. In some parts of the Philippines, it may be frowned upon if you ask to sleep in the same room before marriage with beautiful Filipina women. Although this is rare and most cities are very open to having relations prior to being married, still, it is a good idea to be wary.
